SymPics

(for Symbol Pictures) is a structured program for teaching letter names, letter sounds, and sound-letter writing as a part of a reading readiness program.

Sound Signs (hand signs that represent English sounds) are part of the SymPics Program and are particularly useful for teaching sound-symbol association. Sound Signs along with the SymPics Pages make learning letter sounds multi-sensory and fun!

SymPics includes 34 lessons: 21 single consonants, 5 short vowels, 3 digraphs (sh, ch, th), and 5 long vowels in the vowel-consonant-silent e pattern. Every SymPics lesson begins with a Daily Cumulative Review (warm-up). When the students are ready, new sounds are introduced.
